Dr. Dennis Poffenroth was born and raised in Northern Idaho. He attended undergraduate college at the University of Idaho and received his Bachelor of Science and Doctorate degrees from Pacific University in 1970.
In 1970, Dr. Poffenroth was commissioned as a Captain in the U.S Army Medical Service Corps, stationed in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, where he was Chief of Optometry for Patterson Army Hospital. He came to Walla Walla in 1972 and joined the optometric practice of Drs. Bryon Friedman and Richard Winnett. In 1973, Drs Friedman, Winnett and Poffenroth took the practice name of Valley Vision Clinic. Dr. Poffenroth has been an active member in the Walla Walla community for over thirty years.
He has been the Outstanding Young Optometrist of the Year for Washington State and has served in many capacities for the Washington State Optometric Association throughout his years as a member. He continues to serve on the Walla Walla Youth Baseball, Softball Board and is one of the founding members.
